The Tucson Guitar Society began in the 1990s as a small group of guitar players, many of whom were teachers and students, meeting in each other’s homes to share their music. Today, TGS has grown to an organization presenting six to seven professional concerts a year, bringing to Tucson an array of outstanding artists from around the world. TGS maintains its roots as a small, intimate group through its monthly “open mic” nights designed as an opportunity for any interested player to share his or her repertoire. TGS has also created an all-guitar orchestra, which performs two free concerts every year for the community at large. The Tucson Guitar Society collaborates with the University of Arizona School of Music’s Bolton Guitar Program to host master classes, concerts and the International Guitar Festival every November. For more information, visit the Tucson Guitar Society.

In 1999, he created, with singer and guitarist Lidia Borda Esteban Morgado, the show Patio de Tango, which was presented to great acclaim in Brazil and Argentina and subsequently at major festivals throughout Latin America and Europe. In 2000, he premiered Tangos, Waltzes and Milongas, with which he made the rounds of Argentina, France and Italy. Subsequently the Buenos Aires Ministry of Education and the Department of Music engaged him to present more than 100 performances of an educational show about the history of the music of Buenos Aires. His first solo CD, Chambouleyron Sings Gardel, released in 2004, was a popular and critical success; it was followed in 2005 by Chambouleyron Voice and Guitar, which evokes a minstrel Creole, alone with his guitar, delivering very personal versions of traditional Argentine popular music and tango. His third album, Tracción a Sangre, includes classic tangos and songs from the Río de la Plata basin. His print publications include Tango for Guitar and Latin Styles for Guitar, the latter including a DVD.

Tucson Chamber Artists is a versatile ensemble of vocal and instrumental musicians dedicated to enriching lives through the transformational power of classical music. As Southern Arizona”s premier professional chamber choir and orchestra, TCA engages singers from the first rank of choral artists in Arizona and around the country. Its instrumentalists have trained in some of the finest music schools in the world. TCA accomplishes its mission primarily through the performance of masterworks and the diverse music of America.

Now in its ninth season, TCA has quickly become a rising star in the American cultural scene. In 2009, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded funding for TCA’s American Masterpieces project, featuring works by some of the great American composers of the 20th century. In 2010, TCA’s choir was one of three professional choirs, including Chanticleer and the Incheon City Chorale from South Korea, invited to perform at the Western Conference of the American online casino instant Choral Directors” Association. That same year the journal of Chorus America, The Voice, published a feature article on TCA for its successes in light of the current economic downturn.

In 2011 TCA joined forces with Tucson Symphony Orchestra and UApresents for a special concert, Remembrance and Renewal: A Concert to Commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of September 11, 2001. The program featured Mozart”s Requiem and the premiere of a new oratorio by acclaimed composer Stephen Paulus commissioned by TCA.
