Song Project (K-12)
K-12 Song Project is a two-part program developed for youngsters from Kindergarten to grade 12 that will involve both a Songwriting Competition and a Master Class. The Competition is designed to encourage students K – 8 to combine their skills of the written word with those of music to compose original songs. As many as 12 Finalists will be invited to perform their compositions in a “Showcase Recital” on Monday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Holsclaw Hall at the UofA, School of Music. Small cash prizes and certificates will be awarded at that time.
On the high school level, a Master Class with visiting artist, soprano Maria Jette will be given in Holsclaw Hall on Wednesday, February 6, at 4:00 p.m. Students involved in Tucson high school choral programs will be invited to attend along with the general public. Three of those students will be asked to perform for helpful comments. Ms. Jette will perform and share insight about a career in the vocal arts.
